About us

Hanan Sharifa is a Moroccan American artist and clothing designer whose work embraces femininity and is rooted in the belief that garments can function as vessels for ritual, and inner sanctuary. Working at the intersection of fashion, and art, she creates clothing that invites slowness, tenderness, and embodied presence in a world that often demands speed.

Originally producing her work by hand in New York, Hanan has now shifted her production to Morocco, reconnecting her practice with her ancestral homeland. This transition reflects a deepening commitment to intentional making, collaboration, and care, as well as a desire to honor traditional craft, human labor, and slower systems of production. Her garments are developed through an intimate process that includes digitally designed fabrics, screen printing, dyeing, and embroidery, often in close dialogue with artisans and small teams. This approach is a conscious refusal of fast fashion in favor of devotion, patience, and love.

Ceramics, photography, performance, and video are integral to Hanan’s work, shaping the world in which her clothing exists. Her designs bridge the tangible and the spiritual, serving as conduits to liminality. Through fashion happenings, salon-style dinner parties, and performative presentations, she invites audiences into moments of collective ease, reflection, and care.

Central to Hanan’s artistic ethos is her Moroccan American identity, often expressed through Arabic script, particularly her name, ‘Hanan,’ meaning ‘tender’ or ‘compassionate.’ By incorporating these words into her designs, she aims to foster empathy as something you hold every day, while also challenging fears of the use of Arabic she has observed in Western societies.

Rooted in spirituality and romance, Hanan’s art transcends fashion to offer a sanctuary from the demands of modern life. Her work invites moments of inner peace, and joy, encouraging wearers and viewers alike to embrace their beauty and strength. Through her work, she hopes to inspire love and alignment, empowering wearers to navigate the complexities of this world with grace and resilience..

"My garments are more than just something you wear, they're an experience all on their own."
